New Yahoo! Messenger skins are now available for download. Shown here from left to right is my own YM, with the 3 new skins: Gray/Orange, Bronze and Celadon.
Follow these simple steps to install and use the new skins:
1) Download the skins in zip/winrar format at http://messenger.yahoo.com/feat_skins.php
2) Locate where Yahoo Messenger is installed in your HD. Usually, it's in C:\Program Files\Yahoo! and look for the folder marked "Shared". If not, then just change "C:\" to whatever drive it's in.
3) Click/unzip the skins you just downloaded. Keep on clicking on the folders of the zipped file until you reach the folder marked "Graphics". Order of the folders while clicking on them should be Program Files>Yahoo!>Shared>Graphics>Bronze/Celadon/Grayorange.
4) Once you see the skin color folder, highlight (click once) that folder and click on "Extract To". Then choose the folder "Shared" in your HD. (step # 2). Then extract.
5) Do steps 3 and 4 for the 2 other skins you downloaded.
6) No need to restart YM or your PC for the skins to install.
7) Click on the "Messenger" tab on your YM window, then click on "Change Skin". The 3 new skins should now be listed in the drop menu, along with the first 3 (Classic, Maverick Blue, Indigo).
